Wushu is getting closer to be accepted as an official event in Olympics! The 11th Annual World Wushu Championships commence in Ankara, Turkey from October 9 -15, 2011. During this time, the International Wushu Federation forwarded a message from the International Olympic Committee indicating that Wushu is now listed as an official Olympic Sport for the scheduled 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic. Furthermore, it seems like Wushu has reached a formal application for the 2020 Summer Olympics, if it is placed on the ballot from the International Olympic Committee in 2013. In two years time, Wushu has been elevated toward Olympic status under certain qualifications.
Wushu, origin from China, is a supreme Chinese Cultural keepsake belongs to the world. It has been widely spread to the world after the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Although with regret that those promoted events did not make it into an official category but somehow resulted in some degree of recognition. However, those who practice Wushu did not get discouraged. They continually promote the benefits and passion of this Asian sport. I deeply believe, one day, Wushu will become an official event that proudly and rigorously allows athletes to compete.
