Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan was founded by Master Wu Jianquan (1870 – 1942). From the time he was young, Wu Jianquan was taught martial arts by his father Wu Quanyou, in turn a student of Yang Luchan. Over many years of practice and teaching, Master Wu revised and enriched the art of Tai Chi Chuan which had beenhanded down in his family. The tradition of the slow form, fast form, broadsword form, spear and double edge sword form, as well as the extensive system of pushing hands, has been preserved in this style.
Wu Jianquan's daughter, Wu Yinghua (1907-1997), and her husband Ma Yueliang (1901-1998) dedicated their lives to the development and popularization of Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan.
